This is the gateway to Youth Ministry. Whether you are volunteering as a driver or hanging out with the students during a lock-in, serving as an event chaperone is how a lot of good youth workers get started. It's lots of fun & has a definite beginning an ending whether it's a shift, a day, or a week. Our Youth Ministry does a lot of things during the year that require Event Chaperones: summer camp, mission trips, lock-ins, weekend retreats, fundraisers & various one-day off-campus outings.
Small Group Leader.
Outside of their own parents, the SGL's are on the short list of influencers in our students' lives. It begins with relationships and relationships take time. In fact, LOVE over TIME is the most important combination in deepening those relationships. It's called "earning the right to be heard." Teenagers are not usually very interested in how much you KNOW until they know how much you CARE. SGL's show up consistently in the lives of our youth. Our SGL's helps create a safe haven where students feel loved and accepted so they are able to share their lives & faith journeys with those in their group. SGL's are not responsible for increasing student's faith, but they are always looking to facilitate dialogue. It is in dealing with real questions that students take ownership of their faith & move closer to Jesus as they learn to live out their faith. Being there in those moments is the most rewarding part of being an SGL.
Volunteers are crucial to our ministry. We succeed because of you. You're young at heart. You love Jesus. You wanna SERVE.
